Wedding of Jenelle & Thomas Seddon

6 July, 2014

Tom and Jenelle’s destination wedding in Malaysia took place on 6 July 2014. It was the perfect celebration of the love they have for each other, and their son, Byron. Tom and Jenelle are Australians who currently reside in London. Jenelle’s grandmother was Malaysian. Having it in Malaysia was a way for Jenelle to reconnect with her roots and served as a middle ground for their family and friends from UK and Australia.

Their wedding style was themed around wild ginger flowers in particular the torch ginger flower. The torch ginger (also known as Bunga Kantan) is a tropical flower that grows in Malaysia. It is a popular ingredient in Malay cuisine and was the perfect flower for them as it focused on their mutual love of food and was a special treat for their guest. Ginger flowers were also used along with the torch ginger flower in their wedding decorations.

One of the highlights was the tasting photo booth, in which guest could have a taste of the torch ginger flower – in a drink, in fruit mixture (rojak), as a dip, etc. The photo booth was there to capture their reaction as they taste the flower for the first time. 90% of their guest were not from Malaysia and had not tasted yet alone heard of the torch ginger flower before.

As friends of nature and to be cost-efficient, they chose to go green with their  save-the-date and wedding invitation. For their save the date – they sent guest a personalised stop motion drawing video. They also sent their guest this link – http://issuu.com/tomandjenelle/docs/ourwedding which is their wedding invitation.

From crafting the torch ginger in every dish on their menu to having a one-of-a-kind ‘tasting photo booth’, it was everything Tom and Jenelle wanted their wedding to be. It was a truly Malaysian affair.
